Emiliano Varrasi

Part of our recent achievements and growth has been mainly due to the people. So, we’re excited to feature another hard-working team member in our Employee Spotlight of The Month.

Meet long-time team member Emiliano Varrasi, one of the Client Directors from our Customer Success Management team and who has been with us for nearly five years or since 2016.

Born and raised in Sicily, Italy, Emiliano is currently based in Amsterdam. Before Wonderflow, he obtained his bachelor’s in Finance from the University of Westminster in London. Additionally, he has two master’s degrees, one in Corporate Finance from Sweden and another in Business Entrepreneurship from the Netherlands.

Within the last five years, Emiliano has helped some of the world’s best brands to increase customer ratings and satisfaction while instilling a consumer-centric methodology within business processes. His primary expertise lies in consumer electronics, tire manufacturing, and telecommunication.

We appreciate having Emiliano since our early days, but more so, for allowing us to learn a bit more about him.

1. What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

Funny enough, since the pandemic, I’ve been waking up feeling like I am already at work. 🙂

But, jokes aside, I cannot distinguish a particular motivation. This job is part of my life and a passion that cannot be separated. Like when you wake up and brush your teeth because you want to feel fresh, I wake up and try to make the life of our partners easier because I find it rewarding (apart from brushing my teeth :P).

2. Please describe a bit about your role within our company and how it affects the satisfaction of customers?

My role is the satisfaction of customers, and satisfaction comes in many forms.

For instance, a customer might find it challenging to transform data into business decisions. He/she needs help on how to share information within the organization or get other people onboard and to gain support from the organization. I am there to help on all these occasions.

3. How would your family or friends describe you in three words?

Assertive, reliable, a problem-solver (P.S. I just asked my partner and received only positive ones!).

4. What would you do (career-wise) if you were not in this current job?

I love the people I am working with now, also on the clients’ side. I would keep working with them from within the organization. Other industry passions that could become a career path for me would be related to the energy grid, sustainability, or 3D printing.

5. You’ve been with our team since the early days. What key challenges have you seen us overcome, and what are you looking forward to next?

It is great to have experienced my company’s growth in the last five years. Entering a new space is challenging because, at first, only early innovators have the maturity to listen.

However, we were able to get those leaders on board, and today, they are our greatest partners. We’ve created successful stories that allow our strong product to enter the hearts and minds of other decision-makers.

In 2022, I look forward to seeing customer-centricity at the core of corporate strategy with an increase in budget.

6. What was your first job?

I did various types of jobs, but Wonderflow was truly my real first gig. I studied Finance during my bachelor’s and Corporate Finance on a master’s degree level. But only later on, did I realize that my likings were elsewhere.

7. What’s something that recently made you smile/laugh?

Dave Chapelle last Netflix Special 😀

8. What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?

Luckily, I’ve had great advice until now. The one that I reflect upon the most is the use of empathy in any relationship.

Especially in the workplace, we might experience the feeling that other people – clients, colleagues from other departments, other stakeholders – are just professional beings. Instead, they are just people like you who one day can be happy, and one day mostly not in the mood. I find the acknowledgment of this change in behavior as an advantage.

9. If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?

Guanciale (pig cheek).

10. What’s your favorite food?

The above 😀 But truly the one shared with others 🙂

I am also glad that at my job, we have so many food-passionate people like myself. In our off-time, we often talk about new food and advise on it. So, there is always a surprise!
